How to Light the Boats and Get the Reward
The Sword of the Sea light up all boats task has a tangible payoff: a tetra reward added in the August 29, 2025 update. Use your wisps to light boats as you explore, and give the distant wrecks some attention before following the main route onward.
Tetra is the golden currency used to purchase tricks, acquire skills, and open paths. Lighting the boats gives you another reason to explore the ship-filled stretches beyond the obvious route.
Work through each cluster deliberately. Light the nearby boats, scan the surrounding space, and use the jellyfish and kelp to reach boats farther away. Keep your exploration organized around recognizable landmarks rather than crisscrossing the area.
The August 29 update also made platforming to certain secrets less demanding and added an animation when collecting secret shells. If you are combining boat exploration with other collectible hunting, those changes affect the surrounding search too.
For broader collectible cleanup, the September 19, 2025 update added a tracker to chapter select and another to the pause screen in new game plus. That update also corrected collectible counts that could display incorrectly and interfere with an associated trophy. Use those trackers when reviewing your other collectibles alongside the boat hunt.

Sweep the Ghost Bridge and Raised Ship Routes
The ghost bridge, chain mechanisms, and large ship give you useful landmarks for a boat-lighting sweep. Follow this route through those sections:

- Light the ships around the ghost bridge. Activate the boats along your approach, then look around before continuing toward the next traversal section.
- Use the jellyfish and kelp to explore farther out. These traversal aids help you reach elevated routes. Check the boats away from the central path, including the distant wreck near the large ship.
- Reach and activate both chain mechanisms. Use the jellyfish to reach the chain route. Activating both chains raises the large ship.
- Explore the raised ship. Grind along the ship and light the boats around the onward route. Continue checking as you move toward the jellyfish boosts and higher platforms.
- Sweep the surrounding boats before heading for the door. The whale shark route and bridges can carry you across the area quickly; pause to look for boats you passed while concentrating on traversal.
Separate your boat sweep from your search for secret shells and tetra pickups. Finish checking one cluster before chasing a collectible that takes you elsewhere.
Watch how each jellyfish changes your movement. Some launch you upward, while others give you a boost along the route beyond the raised ship. Use the upward launches to reach the chain approaches, then follow the boosting jellyfish toward the higher platforms.
Kelp provides another way to gain height, and water lets the Wraith travel faster than on sand. Build momentum on those watery stretches before attempting a longer jump. Hold and release the jump button to gain height, and use the surrounding ramps and halfpipes to set up your approach.
Keep Checking Boats Along the Lava Route
Boats also appear in the later lava-filled section. Keep lighting them as you travel between the ruins and temple structures.

Boat decks provide places to cool off between stretches of lava. Use those pauses to activate the boat and line up your next jump. Charge your jump before leaving when you need extra height to reach the next platform.
Keep water-bubble transport separate from your boat sweep. Carrying a bubble to a turtle switch involves timed platforms, and the bubble needs to stay clear of the lava. Finish that crossing, then resume checking boats when you have room to explore.
The lava route also includes a ramp leading toward a grind along a creature’s fossilized spine. Look for that ramp when working out how to continue through the ruins. Keep boat checks between these traversal sequences so you can concentrate on carrying the water bubble during the timed crossing.
